ARTS OF FASHION
COMPETITION - PHILADELPHIA MUSEUM OF ART | OCT 28 2009 |
On
Wednesday night, the International Arts of Fashion Competition and Fashion
Shows were pesented at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Shows opened with
the Debut - Series: the collections of three young rising designers -
Amy Sarabi, Chelsea Snyder and Julianne Thibodeaux, followed by the CarteBlanche
- Series featuring the collections of 3 design talents - Christian Wijnants,
Anthony Vaccarello and Matthew Ames. Then the creative pieces completed
in the Masterclass-series were presented.
The works of the finalists of the International Fashion Design Competition
were exhibited. Presenting 2 silhouettes, each candidate showed the jury
and attendees their interpretation of the theme 'Illusion', while competing
for one of the internships and scholarships offered. Congratulation to
each candidate!

ROUND SELECTION - JURY MEMBERS MAY 29, 2009 @ THE FASHION INSTITUTE OF
DESIGN AND MERCHANDISING, FIDM - LOS ANGELES
The
first round of preliminary selection for the 2009 Arts of Fashion Competition
will be hosted by the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in
Los Angeles, CA.
On May 29, 2009, highly respected educators of the Academia will judge
the design submissions by applicants from 96 universities across 28 countries.
Sixty finalists will be given the opportunity to showcase their work at
the Arts of Fashion Symposium hosted by Drexel University in Philadelphia
on October 24, 2009 to October 28, 2009. Nine students will be awarded
scholarship and internship opportunities. The winners will be given the
chance to attend the Schools of the Chambre Syndicale in Paris, summer
programs with the Arts of Fashion in Belgium and France, and intern for
fashion Houses such as Jean-Charles de Castelbajac, Anne Valerie Hash
and Nice Collective in San Francisco!

ARTS
OF FASHION COMPETITION 2009 - THEME & REQUIREMENTS
THEME
2009 ILLUSION - MENSWEAR / WOMENSWEAR OR MIXED COLLECTION
Students
will have the opportunity to submit an application showing their creative
and innovative design potentials in the following two categories: • ACCESSORIES: a mini collection of three accessories,
including luggage, bags, belts, hats, shoes, etc… Sorry no jewelry
will be accepted. Applicants can submit a collection in any combination,
such as three different belts or one belt, one bag, and one pair of shoes. • FASHION: a mini collection of three outfits in
menswear, women wear, or a mixed collection of both men’s and women’s
wear.
Online
registration opens and limited to 500 applicants.

First Round / to design a capstone collection of 3 outfits:
- 1 page for the 3 illustrations or plan of collection
- 1 page for each illustration
- 1 page for each flats/technical designs
- 1 page for the fabric and material swatches
- 1 page for the developed concept or atmosphere or mood board
- 1 page for the written concept (maximum 100 words)
- 1 resume / CV of the applicant
- 1 student ID (photocopy) 2009 of the applicant

The
Arts of Fashion Foundation is a 501(c) (3), public, non-profit organization,
linking both academics and professionals alike and is dedicated in fostering
international cultural exchange through the creation of a variety of educational
events meant to facilitate critical thinking among artists, designers,
scholars and students. The primary focus of the foundation is the continuous
support of creativity and design in fashion and the arts linked to it
