FIRST ROUND
SELECTION - JURY MEMBERS APRIL 27, 2010 @ FASHION INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY - NEW YORK

The Arts of Fashion Foundation is pleased to announce that Charlene Parsons from Miami International University of Art & Design, Stephen Doyle from Glasgow Caledonian University - UK, Katryn Schnabl from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Steven Faerm from Parsons The New School for Design, Van Dyk Lewis from Cornell University, Linda Lee from Virginia Commonwealth University, Sass Brown from the Fashion Institute of Technology are among the fashion professors selected for the preliminary judging of the 9th Arts of Fashion International Student Competition 2010. Lisa Weiss – owner of the Debut Gallery New York and Mathew Ames New York creative Fashion designer will join the jury this year.
This year, this jury session is generously hosted by the Fashion Institute of Technology – FIT in New York on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 from 9 AM - 6 PM.
(In 2002 we did this first round at the University of Cincinnati, in 2003 and 2006 at Parsons in NY, in 2004 at Philadelphia University, in 2005 at Virginia Commonwealth University, 2007 at the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco, in 2008 at the Pratt Institute in NY and last year at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles).
The challenge during this long day - on April 27 - is to select 50 candidates in Fashion and Accessories based on the student 2D project from 26 Countries and 82 Schools and Universities! Innovation, Creativity and Coherence, Illustration and Feasibility, with the theme “UNIQUELY UNTRENDY” for this year, are the main criteria -

OF FASHION COMPETITION 2010 - THEME & REQUIREMENTS
THEME 2010
"UNIQUELY UNTRENDY"- MENSWEAR / WOMENSWEAR OR MIXED COLLECTION
Students will have the opportunity to submit an application showing their creative and innovative design potentials in the following two categories:
• ACCESSORIES: a mini collection of three accessories, including luggage, bags, belts, hats, shoes, etc… Sorry no jewelry will be accepted. Applicants can submit a collection in any combination, such as three different belts or one belt, one bag, and one pair of shoes.
• FASHION: a mini collection of three outfits in menswear, women wear, or a mixed collection of both men’s and women’s wear.
Online registration opens and limited to 500 applicants.
• First Round / to design a capstone collection of 3 outfits:
- 1 page for the 3 illustrations or plan of collection
- 1 page for each illustration
- 1 page for each flats/technical designs
- 1 page for the fabric and material swatches
- 1 page for the developed concept or atmosphere or mood board
- 1 page for the written concept (maximum 100 words)
- 1 resume / CV of the applicant
- 1 student ID (photocopy) 2009/2010 of the applicant

Format of each page: 8.5" x 11" or A4 / Letter – and on separate page (do not try to bind it or else) – name and school and email address and cell phone number should be written on the back of each page with a pencil.

• Second Round / construction of 2 outfits or 2 accessories from the capstone collection selected project:
