Qinwen Wei

MAISON LESAGE PARIS AWARD – QINWEN WEI | Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology- China
Qinwen Wei defines Resilience as a regeneration capacity, as if some sensation has been forgotten and someday it has been bring back. Thus, her inspiration is one of the ancient culture of China : Shadow Puppet. Furthermore, she consists it with her grandmother who has been 103 years old to show her fabulous love to her and the highest respect to elders.

EUN SOL JUNG

ANNE VALERIE HASH AWARD – EUN SOL JUNG | Samsung Art and Design Institute - South Korea
How to become strong - Everyone has a weakness in one's inside and when someone bothers to scratch it, it fiercely resists, even if we have been hurt ourselves. This can be also our strength. The weakness is the sleepy tiny warrior in ourselves. Eun Sol Jung made the comparison with some baroque aristocrats' outfit, who wore garments from previous fights as a perfect armure - a form of resilience.

SEON RIM LEE

MANISH ARORA AWARD – SEON RIM LEE | DongSeo University - South Korea
The Human Resilience - Human Nature has changed over the centuries, despite a strong tendency against change. In the overall Universe, there are planets orbiting around the sun, with the sun playing the central role, the planets always going through the same circle, showing resilience and consistency. As a parallel, human beings show the same resilience, and always function as humans, around consistent concepts. Seon Rim Lee's designs always try to exhibit the real human essence, exposing the resilience, the inner core, and the true essence of being human.

MARIANA VANEGAS

AOF SCHOLARSHIP PARIS SUMMER MASTERCLASS – MARIANA VANEGAS MARQUEZ | Colombiana Colegiatura - Colombia
Dynamic Alteration - The Human Being lives constantly through the dynamics and the alteration; since the movement changes are generated in his/her body, these are repetitive, sequential; they accumulate and generate energies that are altered and liberated, giving life to a body of fluid movement, which is capable of breathing across the interconnection of textures and to adapt to any condition of life.

BRENDAN SMITH

AOF SCHOLARSHIP PARIS SUMMER MASTERCLASS – BRENDAN SMITH | Melbourne School of Fashion - Australia
Lepidoptera, a delicate, spirited creature, the moth is one of nature’s smallest resilient species. In every stage of its metamorphosis, the moth takes a form; egg, caterpillar, cocoon, moth, egg, caterpillar, cocoon, moth… survival. Immobilised and restricted within a protective shell, neither wind nor water can penetrate its sturdy, silken, cocooned sheath. Feathery like antennas, mesmerising silky reflections, the moth can disguise itself within surroundings, with striking patterns and eye markings on their wings which cause an illusion deceiving true size. Even in death their form is resilient as their beauty remains intact for centuries.

YIN YE

NICE COLLECTIVE AWARD – YIN YE | Whitehouse Institute of Design - Australia
Resilience is an illusion of rebounding. The idea of resilience can be transformed beautifully into fashion through fabrication and shaping. The whole collection is designed through draping, to luxuriate the sensation of the natural form and drape of the fabrications. Let the fabric act according to its nature, but always come back together and flatter the human body.

MONIKA LEPSCHY

AOF SCHOLARSHIP PARIS SUMMER MASTERCLASS – MONIKA LEPSCHY | Uni. West Bohemia Pilsen - Art & Design - Czech Republic
Monika Lepschy's collection is inspired by one of the most resistant natural material which is a cobweb. Her entire collection is based on work with string. But to avoid primitive and popular look of intertwined cobweb, she chose macrame. This method is used like discreet label of product. Because it is not possible to process the spider's fibers, Monika Lepschy chose to use a polytetrafluorethylen (PTFE) which is one of the most resistant man-made material. A shape and type of shoes and accessories are designed purely for emphasis on handmade work with white string.
