AMANDA JAMES - Parsons The New School for Design - USA

Amanda James has always been intrigued by the crossover between psychology and design and the way in which women think about their bodies and how that informs the way they dress. One psychological theory that has resonated with her over the past year is self-objectification theory — the way in which women view themselves from the eyes of an external observer. In an attempt to circumvent its negative side effects like body dissatisfaction and appearance anxiety, she has created this collection to instill a feeling of confidence in the wearer by revealing and concealing selective parts of a woman's body to promote resilience to self-objectification.
