MIN KYUNG JUNG - Fashion Institute of Technology - USA

Basket weaving dates back to thousands of years. This meticulous craft has been spread to many different parts of the world. Min Kyung Jung utilized this long preserved craft as the main component throughout her design process for this collection under resilience.
Weaving strips of fabric can help transform it into something with resilient properties. Weaving changes the composition of the fabric giving it characteristics of elasticity, resilience, along with adding aesthetics to the appearance. The strips on their own cannot deliver these qualities. She combined simple silhouettes with the intricate detail of weaving. There is an essence of history and culture weaving through a very contemporary collection giving it substance and structure. These two elements may seem contradictory but together they form a collection that is not only resilient but beautiful.
(Min Kyung Jung will present the silhouettes1 & 3)
