Concept : Through manipulation of second hand woollen sweaters and yarns, different innovative methods will be used to re-invent ways of working with woolly materials, mainly: Pressing - fusing - dividing - covering - over - cutting - sticking - felting - cut and sew techniques to rework the wool in layers and challenge its qualities.
By hand or mechanical means the wool material will be transformed in order to re-create new volumes and surfaces playing with depth, fullness versus emptiness, lines and curves, graphic effects, strata, thick and thin...

Concept : Rediscovering and transforming the essence of an iconic piece in a new innovative way.
An iconic piece is recognizable among thousands. It illustrates the vision and creativity of its designer. Yves Saint Laurent's tuxedo remains one the most iconic pieces of the twentieth century. Because of this characteristic, it is the perfect balance between a strong sharp piece and a classical frame for a student to further his/her skills. In this MasterClass, we will try to emerge new shapes, new volumes and new aesthetics using such a piece. By deconstructing the garment, we will then use patchwork techniques in order to create what could be a modern, innovative interpretation of this classic icon. Use its heritage and transgress it.

Required materials: (*Size is not important.)
One second-hand men's black tuxedo jacket and one second-hand men’s black blazer

One men's black trouser pant
One men's white cotton button-down shirt
One tie/bow tie
4/5 yards of woven graphic fabric. (i.e. Scottish tartan, pied de poule, pied de coq , check , suiting stripe materials, Chinese compact silk with design, fancy woven silk etc…)
3/4 yards of non-woven fabric (i.e. tyvek, plastic, leather, aluminium, technological fabrics) **Plain colors only
40 yards of couturish ribbon (trimming, piping) (**can be chain, embroidery, metal, satin , strange rope, fringe, etc
