![]() ![]() ![]() THE ARTS OF FASHION FOUNDATION TO ANNOUNCE FINALISTS OF THE FASHION SHOWCASE AT THE ASIAN ART MUSEUM IN SAN FRANCISCO - DECEMBER 17, 2018
On Sunday December 16th and Monday 17th, the Arts of Fashion Foundation held the 2018 Symposium which culminated with the 2018 Arts of Fashion International Competition on Monday night. The sponsorship of YKK Corporation and the support of VIP guests made possible the two-day events, which allowed fashon students to interact with luminaries in the Industry and explain their inspiration and passion behind their runway looks for the Monday night show. At the Sunday seminar, we had the pleasure of hearing about the rich and varied experience in the fashion industry of the four international guests judges:
THE 2018 ARTS OF FASHION COMPETITION AWARDED CANDIDATES
The events Monday, hosted at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, included a portfolio review in which the expert judges were able to discuss the projects with the students, a preliminary project presentation and finally the runway show in which students showcased innovative looks around the 2018 theme Transgression. 32 Countries and 104 Schools and Universities were represented this year with 340 applicants during the first phase of the international Arts of Fashion Competition 2018. Of the 50 finalists, 31 flew in from all over the world to attend the event as did VIP guests hosted by Committee Chair, Juliet Bergh. With such a wide variety of quality designs and original concepts, it was a close competition and a difficult deliberation to select the top 6 candidates: LINA GOMEZ - COLOMBIA, MEDELLIN | MANISH ARORA-NEWDELHI AWARD MELISA ORELLANA USTARIZ - ARGENTINA, BUENOS AIRES | MAISON LESAGE-PARIS AWARD YUE HE - CHINA, BEIJING | MAISON LEMARIE-PARIS AWARD XUE CHEN - CHINA, BEIJING | ARTS OF FASHION MASTERCLASS-PARIS SCHOLARSHIP LIU LIU - CHINA, BEIJING | ARTS OF FASHION MASTERCLASS-PARIS SCHOLARSHIP HEYUN PAN - CHINA, BEIJING | YKK FASHION MASTERCLASS-PARIS SCHOLARSHIP The runway competition and surrounding events could not have been taken place without the help of over 80 volunteers through the Arts of Fashion's long term relationship with the San Francisco French American International School (FAIS), students from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) and make up artists from the San Francisco Institute of Esthetics and Cosmetology (SFIEC).
Zhiying HUANG – China | Shanghai – China Academy of Art THE ARTS OF FASHION COMPETITION 2018 | RESULTS PARIS PRELIMINARY JUDGING – MAY 17 The Arts Decoratifs Museum of Paris (MAD Paris) generously hosted the preliminary judging on May 17, 2018 in the Salon des boiseries. The task of the 12 Jurors was to identify 50 international candidates in Fashion and Accessories based on the students’ 2D submissions under this year’s theme of TRANSGRESSION. Thanks to all of them.
