THE ARTS OF FASHION FOUNDATION COMPETITION 2022 - MEDELLIN

After exploring Paris and the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in The Louvre in 2020, and the revolutionary fashion city of Antwerp in Belgium last year, The Arts of Fashion Foundation has decided to highlight another fashion epicenter: Latin America. While we look forward to returning to the in-person Arts of Fashion Annual Symposium in San Francisco in the future, we are grateful for such opportunities to shed light on the beautiful craft of this region.
With a long textile industry history in Medellin, a Colombian fashion manufacturing industry which today remains mainly considered for its strong exponential economical revenue, a craft and know-how of indigenous people through the overall country preserved, and a longtime relationship that the Arts of Fashion cultivated during years with a group of former awardees, it has been natural to choose the city of Medellin this year to deliver its third video presentation of the 2022 competition - a city full of contrasts, but also worldly recognized for its innovation cultivation and powerful model of social development.

Under the Arts of Fashion Foundation direction, finalist's fashion projects of this year's international contest were shot across various locations of Medellin at the end of October - in collaboration with 8 fashion students and 2 alumni of Colegiatura and their professors, El Munequero Beauty School and models from the XY Models agency of Medellin. Many thanks to all of them as well as to the Medellin Film Commission.
